General Motors to Extend Warranty

http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/070305/gener...anty.html?.v=2
General Motors Will Extend Warranty on Crate Engines Effective Immediately

DETROIT (AP) -- General Motors Corp. unit GM Performance Parts said Monday it will extend the warranty offered on its performance parts crate engines to 24 months or 50,000 miles.

Previously, the warranty was for 12 months or 12,000 miles.
It will also add a 12 month or 12,000 mile warranty to its performance parts components, effective immediately.

The new warranty periods cover thousands of parts, from spark plug wires to crate engines, and will be applied to GM Performance Parts crate engines, transmissions and components installed in or bought after March 1, 2007, and is transferable to subsequent owners.
A crate engine is a complete replacement internal combustion engine already packed in a shipping crate.

Good for those who are modifying, building or rebuilding GMs.

I agree. Dropping a crate engine in some of the older GM cars is just HOT! And now people can do this with a longer warranty. =D

I love the GM crate engines. I'm looking for straight rust-free 1979 or 1980 Cutlass Wagon to place one into.

Re: General Motors to Extend Warranty

I want to drop the l92 6.2 liter V8 w/the l92 heads and l76 intake manifolds in my car.

The warranty makes it even more attractive.

Its dam tempting..

Thats a great motor although stroking it and slamming in a new cam would probably bring that motor to over 550 hp...

Lose the warranty and grab another 100/150 hp easy?

Probably the way to go if your spending the cash but not sure...though..

Need that hot cam to do it..

Maybe gm will slip a hot cam in for laughs and then that warranty will be golden...

That l92 motor is awesome
maybe with a hot cam right from GM 500hp should be easy.

Re: General Motors to Extend Warranty

Wonder if that warranty is good for self installation? Or does it have to be at a certified shop or dealer? Always wondered about that as I've read a couple posts about warranty refusal on a locked up engine after a diy.
