General Electric: Hydrogen on the Cheap
Quote:
This puts a new light on the development of Hydrogen vehicles. I am glad GM is fighting on all fronts, not just E85 or just hybrids. Last edited by GM_Fanatic : 06-08-2006 at 03:33 PM. |

Re: General Electric: Hydrogen on the Cheap
Looks like Hydrogen is the real wave of the future. The only problem I see is an increase of humidity in the world.

And while I'm thinking about it, I'm against subsidies for oil companies to build these. The government didn't pay the Rockerfellers go out and to build all of their Standard Stations in the early 20th century. If hydrogen production is made cheap and easy enough, and vehicles are produced that use it and are desirable to the public, then oil companies would have no choice but to make the investment to stay in business. Oil is not going away anytime soon, anyway. If every gas-powered vehicle were converted to hydrogen tomorrow, we still need it for so many other things.

Re: General Electric: Hydrogen on the Cheap
Now this seems interesting:
![]() http://www.switch2hydrogen.com/h2.htm Who wants a Nuclear Corvette? PS. IMHO if the gov't should do anything with the hydrogen business, than it is to make sure the oil companies get involved in it the least. They are disposing of far too much power (pun not intended) now, and the effects are pretty depressing. |

Re: General Electric: Hydrogen on the Cheap
i dont understand why they dont just develop the onboard system which use water, oh wait no one will make money. i suppose that we are in a world of $3 energy sources for ever now, what a shame. if they would just use water there would be no problems with transportation or with fueling the vehicle, like no need to develop complicated and sophisticated pumps to fill our vehicles which have the potential to be dangerous. it would just be water plain and simple

Re: General Electric: Hydrogen on the Cheap
Thats good, all we need to do for a REAL hyrdogen economy is finish the car, make the infrastructure, and produce the hydrogen efficiently (which is going on now in this article). This is still going to take at least 10 years, GM's prediction of getting hydrogen on the road by the end of the decade is still a stretch.

Re: General Electric: Hydrogen on the Cheap
the same way the guy who made his welding torch run of water converts it to hydrogen. well you don't need to use fresh water in the car, snow, salt, rain or fresh water can all be used, and if needed these cars (if using an Internal Comb. motor) can run off gas or ethanol as well
