Gas Prices Peaking...Again

prices seem to be going up a few cents every few days and here the price of regular averages about $2.76 - $2.81 depending on if you go to a name-brand or generic place.

is there even a reason for this?

Quote:
U.S. gasoline prices have surged by more than 30 cents over the past month with the beginning of the peak driving season less than two months away, the Washington Post reported on Tuesday.

The paper quoted the AAA auto club as saying that the national average price for regular unleaded gasoline reached 2.58 dollars a gallon on Monday, 31 cents higher than a month ago when the prices averaged at 2.27 dollars a gallon.

The average gasoline price in the Washington metropolitan area hit 2.63 dollars a gallon, compared with 2.27 dollars a month ago and 2.17 dollars a year ago.

It's the start of the spring/summer vacation season.. Gas always goes up around this time.

Re: Gas Prices Peaking...Again

I have to pay about $30 in gas every 2.5 - 3 days. That's like $300 per month. I may look OK on the outside... but I am hurting inside.

Thank god I am not one of those lucky people who have to fill 91 octane in their SUVs.

$2.63 here in southern WI. I'm not worried...not when I get the low 30's in MPG on the Bonneville (highway)...

If only we could get the "terrorism premium" reduced or eliminated from the price of oil. Coming up with some stability in Iraq and Nigeria, and a nuclear deal with Iran (instead of both sides making threats) would go a long way toward that.

Terrorism has some to do with it - but all the tree huggers that won't let us build new refineries has also hurt and continues to push the price of gas up. America hasn't built a new refinery in 30 years - and there are a lot more vehicles on the road now then back in the 70s.

You can't make deals with Terrorists (Iran) so the best thing you can do is plan and develop refineries to give sufficient capacity as well as make strides in other forms of powering our cars.

My next vehicle will run on E85, or better yet E100.

I hope GM makes every car a flex fuel, then they can really market the reduce foreign oil and pollution. The prius that gets 41 mpg, not 60 like their lying advertisments state, still burns gas and pollutes. GM should advertise that and compare it to a Ethanol vehicle.

Re: Gas Prices Peaking...Again

If only we could get the Federal tax off of gasoline. That'd be nice. I mean, that tax was added to gas to fund the Eisenhower Interstate System....guess what....it's built, you can take the tax off now! State taxes repair and maintain the Interstates locally nowadays and the Federal tax just goes to Pork Projects. Just think how the economy would surge if people could really afford to spend less money on gas and more on 'stuff'.

THanks, the E85 and ethanol hype has been a big part of our recent price hikes. Ethanol prices have skyrocketed and is required for fuel in many areas. Unfortunately its not the Arab terrorists causing our gas price problems, but rather the corprate american terrorists that are doing it.

And E85's all your going to see in the US, E100 won't start a car in cold temperatures.

Hybrids also still burn regular gas. Where as E-85 is much cleaner ALL the time. However, E-85 is still not really any cheaper.

E-85 in Dearborn Michigan is currently at $2.55

I'll just stop and get gas everytime I'm down to 3/4 full.....the cost doesn't hurt as much.
