UPDATE: Cause of fire at GM Lordstown determined
    January 4, 2013

LORDSTOWN, Ohio - Lordstown fire officials believe they know what caused Thursday afternoon's fire at the General Motors Lordstown plant.

The fire broke out around 2:15 p.m. in the paint shop area.

Officials say a private contractor using a diesel- powered pressure washer routed the hot diesel exhaust to an unused paint booth, igniting fumes from left over paint.

    ...

It will be reopen Sunday night.

I hope that means nobody was there except security and maybe maintenance reducing the chance of injury

I've been listening to the live police scanner feed there...2:15 makes zero sense. The affiliates need to check their facts.

Just what we needed, even more color constraints.... People already complain here about all the white-grey-black selections.

Can you even imagine the liability claim for these repairs? Even if the contractor had liability insurance, his maximum may not cover it.

Diesel exhaust seems like one of the last things you'd want being pumped into a paint booth. Aren't they basically clean rooms these days?
Man this reminds me of good ol GM...you can use "same ol GM" as you use "same ol Lions"

Reminds of the time, we hired "Three Stooges" to do some painting at the Ford Dealership, they were cleaning the oil-based paint out of the brushes in the bathroom sink, with paint thinner smoking cigarettes.

This means I can get my Cruze in smoky haze colors now?

Anyways, the contractor was probably getting the job done fast, and didn't take any safety pre-cautions.
