DON'T BUY A GM VEHICLE - Until 09/26!

Source: WSJ Report On XM Radio

General Motors will announce a blow-out deal to end the "GM Employee Pricing For Everyone" program soon.

The event will be called "96-Hour Countdown" and will begin September 26, 2005, and last - you guessed it - 96 hours.

GM will give an additional discount to retail customers of $1,000 on vehicles that currently qualify for the program (Most 2005 and some 2006 SUV/Pickup models).

Get your checkbook ready!

Visit a GM dealer and put a deposit down - before everyone else finds out!

I wonder if that also works with the "use your GM card points too" mailing I just got yesterday.

HUH??? I thought GM didn't have the inventory to support a blow-out like that.

Re: DON'T BUY THAT GM VEHICLE - Until 09/26!

It's actually for vehicles delivered 9/24 (not 9/26) through 9/30.

Unfortunately with how many customers can be, this means a quiet weekend for sales.

Re: DON'T BUY THAT GM VEHICLE - Until 09/26!

From What I Understand It Is $1k On Only 20% Of Inventory - It Includes 05's And Full Size 06's And Sierra - I Have 3 05's Left In Stock!!!
So Far What I Have Seen Is 50% Of The Customers That Walk In Looking For An 05 And You Tell Them To Come Look At An 06 With "value Pricing" And It Will Be An Even Better Deal - Turn Around And Walk Out!

It must work on '06 cars too, as the dealership told me not to buy until saturday so I could get the $1,000 inventory rebate.

GM is never going to end the employee pricing. As soon as sales on the 06's slump (and they will), everyone will be an employee again.

Re: DON'T BUY THAT GM VEHICLE - Until 09/26!

The dealer picks the 20% of there inventory so it can be 04s 05s or 06s but in most cases the dealer will pick the oldest cars on ground to use this rebate, I know we are. And this extra $1,000 only is good for cars on dealers lots.

I agree sales will drop some, but I think GM is looking at the big picture and will hold off on the employee pricing. The have invested a lot into this new value pricing campaign. Besides employee pricing only moved metal nobody made much money with it.

Re: DON'T BUY THAT GM VEHICLE - Until 09/26!

the chevy dealer out here in BG is so empty...all it really has is a bunch of used vehicles, barely any trucks at all, and few cobalts and impalas, and 1 hhr.....i dont think i have ever seen such an empty dealer lot before...this place was packed full of pick ups before i left school last year too.

finding a car is gonna be hard to do in many places im pretty sure.

I actually read that Ford made money at it. And you know if Ford keeps it, then so will GM and Chrysler.

The extra $1000.00 is allowed on 20% of the inventory on the lot. The dealership picks the cars. If you want a Suburban here is your best chance.

I think the buying public has figured out that this emplyoee deal is a marketing plan. Yes the deals were great and the first month we were so busy it was like working at a deli counter(take a number please). The last few months have dropped off and I think the inventoy has something to do with it. But I also think customers have become numb to the hole thing also.
