Yep, marketing to women makes gobs of money.
'glad I'm not within that 80%. I like to make my own decisions in my own life. I bought my wife the car she wanted.. If she wants to decide what my car will be, she can get a job and buy me another one. :p

As for the Volt. $45k, huh? Good luck with that...

The Cimimiron...oh man. Good idea, bad execution.
Cavy was a popular car, I guess they just went a little too far.

Well, the problem is that with most marriages, that car purchases are made out of a family budget. Both husband and wife need to be on board. Although the Mrs. may want an Escalade ESV, the Grand Caravan gets bought for practical reasons, and while Mr. may want a Camaro, the Malibu I4 gets bought for the same practical reasons.

One might argue, why not let her get the 'Slade, and let him get the Camaro SS, but then the family is bankrupted by gas costs.

Sadly, many men fail to grasp practicality in vehicle purchases, and women have to step up and bring common sense into the decision.

A marriage is a partnership, and this is especially true today with two-income households. Both have extravagent desires, but at least one of them has to step up and be the responsible one. I would hope that with every major household purchase, both husband and wife would have a say in it.

Re: CNBC/ saving GM series premiers Aug 6

I watched the show and overall I thought it was okay. It was a little light on how GM plans to 'save' itself. Maybe it's because I spend lots of time here in the forums, but I wanted to hear answers to even tougher questions from Wagoner and Lutz.

I did come away with some realizations though:

1. GM has a lot of work to do when it comes to advertising and informing the general public about its products; especially the "sheeple". "Knobs falling off and unergonomically designed interiors", like the lady said. Really? I guess she didn't hear about the rash of quality slips at Toyota huh?.... Oh well, I could go on but I won't.

2. GM should stop the old broken record: just deliver great products time after time instead of over-promising and under-delivering (I think they are making progress here though).

3. Don't forget about the home market. As Wagoner was gushing about China, I couldn't help but notice how much nicer and upscale some of the offerings were in those showrooms compared to some of the stuff they're peddling here in the States. Shameful, is our money not good enough?

I hope they can get their act together, but I'm getting more skeptical with all the bad news and rumors coming of late.

Re: CNBC/ saving GM series premiers Aug 6

If didn't really answer any questions. It focussed mainly on the mistakes of GM's past not on what is gonna be done in the future. It felt like it was complaining about the problems instead of looking for solutions. It was pretty crappy not that I think about it. Wow I really didn't learn anything about GM's future that the general public didn't already know years ago what a crappy program.
