Nuclear power plants? Maybe. Cars? No way. Certainly plenty of cleaner and safer ways of powering vehicles and even homes.

If you can minaturize the system, it would work well, never need to refill it, get great milage, though I would also be happy if they made fuel out of peanuts, they do everything else, if George Washington Carver lived longer, he would have done it.

why not combine the two ideas - NUCLEAR PEANUTS! sounds like the ultimate fuel, or the ultimate band name.

Baiscally you if you learn to split any atom, it can be made nuclear. I remember a time were everyone thought helocopters would be the transportation of the future, too bad that never came true.

Re: Charge your Volt at a "Smartlet".

Well we can be damn sure that Walmart/Target and the like will be quick to implement them, many other places will to.

People have said how it would be nice to charge them at work or while shopping, then morons come in with the "they won't charge your car for free" crap, which the people who suggested it already knew in the first place.

It's a great idea, and a way for some stores to make a few extra bucks at the same time.

They would certainly produce gas...METHANE! Then we could run around in our cars with hoses up our butts as the fuel supply! Now that's a "LIBERAL" clean fuel system.

Oh and lets not forget a large portion of people who will benefit from these vehicles the most, will be commuters who park in parking structures at work. Solar cells might make sense as an option, but would add a lot of cost for little reason for some as well!

Maybe the charging cord could be connected to the car alarm somehow so you can only disconnect it by first unlocking the doors.
There are 3 companies working to commercialize the technology, not just MIT. I believe in the 1960s a company built a (or a few) prototype electric cars that used inductive power. Apparently it didn’t work well or I’m sure they would have pushed for it more in the 1970s

Not only that it looks ugly on the vehicle, they should of integrated the AM/FM antenna into the body of the vehicle. Why they didn't do this I will never know.
