Cars.com Writer Blasts Camaro Concept

Cars.com article regarding the Detroit auto show. The guy who wrote this has more than a few unkind words for most of the American concepts--including the Camaro. Link goes to the article's home page--you can branch out from there.

Start growing those mullets, boys; the Camaro is back! Sort of. It's actually a concept car and it looks like something — maybe even a bunch of things — with the exception of a Camaro.

He has considerably fewer unkind words for most of the imports, but they don't all escape his derision. How a hack writer like this got put in charge of this show is beyond me.

Sounds like another import luver if you ask me. Ya who-ever hired him must be pissed for giving this guy a job, he makes cars.com look BAD.

This new Camaro design is very tasteful and very hot at the same time. The last F-car was by no means a full-fledged mullet mobile. This new one, once you get past by the front end is nothing of the sort. Of course, we would have to see what production reality turns this beauty into.

I read some of his other reviews and they aren't all that bad.

Hmm. I'm not a huge fan of the Camaro concept, but this writer clearly would have blasted anything GM presented. Some folks are like that, and unfortunately, the internet gives them an instant audience.

This writer is clearly misinformed and has done no research. Is he familiar with only the last generation of Camaro? Seems that way.

Perhaps it's unfair, but everyone's going to compare this retro concept to the Dodge Challenger concept, which was the belle of the 2006 Detroit auto show ball.

While I too like the Challenger a bit more than the Camaro concept, the public feedback has clearly placed the Camaro concept above the Challenger concept. I don't believe that the Challenger was the "belle of the 2006 Detroit auto show".

Overall, the Cars.com article was poorly written. The author's grasp of the english language, sentence structure, and 'awareness' of the popular vernacular is poor at best. The article reads more like a junior high "what I did on my summer vacation" essay.

I didn't think so. In addition to be a bad writer, he writes for an irrelevant site.

Yes, but one that also has the LATimes link to it. Which means it probably gets alot of hits from the general public. So there are going be quite a few people who read that "review".

I like the Camaro, I'm not in love or anything, but it's OK though. The Camaro it isnt even close to as bad as he makes it out to be. Your probably right about the Prius, its probably bright purple or painted up in rainbow colors with the those daisy wheels.

I know the last gen fbodies were tasteful to all crowds not just rednecks.. of coarse they were both respectively called "the poor mans corvette" (especially the trans am b/c of the flip-up headlights) but really you take a look and you have ppl from all walks of life buying/interested in them..and it includes the new charger and mustang...but yeah foremost anyone driving a mid 80's/early 90's stang's (score more points if its the vanilla ice white vert mustang),iroc camaros, and bandit trans ams are seen as rednecks..yeah i too cant escape it...friends do blast mullet and burt reynolds jokes at me occasionally unjustified of coarse b/c i dont consider myself a redneck at least

It looks like the stang, its to retro, its late to the game, it be a while before it hits the streets, there are legit things to whine about.

Its got a V8 its RWD its brand spankin new car, unlike the GTO debacle. Its a persfect Camaro!!!

It does look like a Camaro to me, but some of the old Camaros are sometimes confused for the old Mustangs by those who do not know the difference or are not paying attention, so I guess I would give the author that. Some friends of mine say the sharp lines remind them of a Cadillac, not a Chevy.
