Re: Cadillac XTS and Buick Regal Confirmed!

At least a new DTS/XTS is happening. I'd rather have it FWD-based than nothing at all.

But the Regal...2011? Has GM learned anything from the Astra?

To be honest I'd prefer Cadillac's absence from the full-size luxury market if this is the case. I honestly can't see how a Epsilon car could compete with 7/S. The LaCrosse already has... ungainly overhangs, I can't imagine what the XTS will look like...

I agree. A facelift, a 6 speed and a 3.0L DI engine would go a long way if we have to wait this long. Personally, I think GM needs to get on a new Impala for 2011.

That all said, I am very excited to see the Regal coming!

August 2011 for the Regal? Are you kidding me? That's two years away!! That car will be three years old by then! December 2011 for the new Large Cadillac? So the DTS will flounder around for two and a half more years? This needs to be accellerated!

Another dumb move by GM, that's what up.! No Cadillac product should have FWD.!!
Especially if they want to even think about increasing their meager sales in Europe.
Makes you wonder if they will do away with Sigma, then put the CTS on a FWD platform.
If so, GM is brain dead.!!!

Re: Cadillac XTS and Buick Regal Confirmed!

It's a shame Zeta won't be used for anything besides the Camaro in NA. I don't get it seems like a great platform so far. What a waste of development money and a great platform.

I guses GM wasn't awake when they launched the Aura and Astra 2-3 years after thier European counterpart, why is it going to take 2 years to bring a nearly identical car to NA? I realize it costs money but it would bring in money that Buick and GMC are going to be missing having a entry level car. Seems to me it would be a better overall scenario if all the markets were more on the same schedule.

I guess the only affordable RWD option is going to be Hyundai with thier Genesis for new car buyers. I guess there is always the used market.

Re: Cadillac XTS and Buick Regal Confirmed!

It looks like business as usual from General Motors. I'm sure the XTS will be a stunner and a very, very good car as will the Buick and Impala. But FWD should never be an option for Cadillac. And if the Impala is not RWD, where does it fit in Chevy's lineup w/ the Malibu. Just don't build it.

I don't understand why, if they can run a driveshaft for AWD (which I'm assuming they will do) why not just build the thing the proper way?

What does this say for the next gen CTS? FAIL

Yes, Explore what makes XJ SOOO successful....The new one isn't out yet and I'd HARDLY call the current model successful!

Re: Cadillac XTS and Buick Regal Confirmed!

I was hoping we'd see Regals later this year, imported from China or Europe. There's no reason not to have them here sooner. Sigh.

I wish Cadillac had gone back to names. Call this new XTS the LaSalle. And make it Voltec-powered and I really don't care what the platform is. As mgescuro says, make it a showcase and do it right otherwise it won't be taken seriously. A Voltec XTS/LaSalle would be what I'd like to see and what I'd do were I heading GM.

One thing the article doesn't mention is that mysterious hybrid Oshawa is slated to do. What car is that? The Regal? Impala? XTS?

Re: Cadillac XTS and Buick Regal Confirmed!

If they're making a luxury, FWD, floaty boat, it should be a Buick. WTF is the STS then? WTF is running this company?

Definitely needs to be accelerated...

Then again, everyone here should've already known about the FWD XTS.

Re: Cadillac XTS and Buick Regal Confirmed!

Good news for Oshawa, but bad news for GM buyers, Insignia will be stale by 2011 and another cheapskate luxury product buy Cadillac.

Wasn't the Regal supposed to be an updated Insignia anyways?
