As for Regal... the sooner it gets to market.... the better.
I would not call A8 successful. Remember now that GM does might not have debt issues that eat into budgets. Assuming Unions will stop ordering Viagra.

The worst news is that Zeta is dead from here on, it seems. So is Sigma, I presume.

Re: Cadillac XTS and Buick Regal Confirmed!

I assume this Caddy will replace the STS as well. I have always considered the Sigma STS being replaced by a FWD platform, shared with a Chevyu, as the canary in the coal mine. Well folks, that canary just sputtered and died. GM is back to being run by bean-counters- mediocrity is on its way back. Those of you who own Sigma Cadillacs, keep them- they may become collectors items- a reflection of the short period in its post 1980s slumber, that GM actually got something right.

A8 is successful. Remember, it is a global car. Not just US. Audi has far more respect outside US borders.

I hope the XTS has fins! Along the line of the extended tail lamp lenses of the Converj, but more pronounced as homage to the 1959 DeVille.

I hear you. I think Audi probably rocks in Europe. Personally I think A8 is a great looking car, but, I would never buy one if I could afford a car like that.
I think the Benz or the BMW is just cooler if I was going German.

The Cadillac will probably be more reliable than all Germans, there will be Equus, and there is always Grand ma's ride the Lexus LS.

With a new XJ on the way out, me honestly think Cadillac is stupid to come to the party with a FWD based car. Its going to be dismissed by everyone for not having that RWD feel. I can just see Edmunds Gleeful coment on why it will not be up to snuff with RWD favorite Lexus...

Oh Lutz & Wagoner, the car guys where art thou when you are needed most. Revange of the bean counters cometh!!!

Trying to push a Chevy based Caddy will not fool anyone.

The Sigmas will be the last real Cadillacs. Unfortunately, only the Sigma II CTS has the substance to earn respect.

It looks like Theta-Epsilon, Epsilon II and Lambda are the future of Cadillac.

So, true, Buick can push up to 60K on a fully loaded Luxury Sedan, Why Can GM not seize the oppotunity they have with Cadillac now? Make real cars that display their technical prowess. Cadillacs should not be about Profits only. They Should be show cases of technology and American Engineering might.
But The Car Czar/Tsar I guess decided otherwise.

Re: Cadillac XTS and Buick Regal Confirmed!

On the one hand, I can't help but look at the LWB Zetas and imagine Gen-II CTS/Converj type styling draped over that chassis and wish GM had some sense.

On the other hand, I do think GM should be able to make a very good boring FWD luxo-barge. If they hit a homerun in the interior (all the little details... make mgescuro's jaw drop), technology (VOLTEC!!), and features that have nothing to do with the underlying chassis, it might at least signal some hope that once GM gets its finances in order they can make a proper car for this class, since we all know they can get the driving dynamics down if given a proper platform to start from.

without RWD in the S Class market, its a dud and they know it. Why do you think Lexus and BMW and BENZ and Jaguar use RWD?

This is an attempt to get fleet sales from crown vic.

Re: Cadillac XTS and Buick Regal Confirmed!

This whole thing makes me sick....What exactly is the point of the Sigma platform? Just the CTS sedan, coupe and wagon?? WTF is up with that?

Oh, I agree 100%... best case scenario this thing is a good MKS fighter and "bargain" against the real luxury cars. I'm just trying to be positive and hope that GM shows some signs of life and improvement in the parts that have nothing to do with the drive wheels, so that if/when they get a proper chassis they have the rest ready to go.

And yes, that's probably massively optimistic on my part. But I'm tired of being negative on this kind of stuff... if I can't change what's going to happen, might as well hope for the best case of the bad situation.

How about a modern '59 Deville(not exactly retro styling but still using many cues from the '59) w/fins using the exterior design of the Converj.

Or was this more or less what you were thinking of?

Dear General Motors,
Please no. Just please.

Sincerely, everyone who thinks Cadillac means something other than Chevrolet with more chrome.
