I don't really remember posing a question but forgive me if my comment was redundant. It was really hard to find many comments in the earlier posts about the Regal after having to weed through all the whining about Cadillac, lol.

The point I guess I wanted to make earlier about the Regal is that next year, not two years from now would be ideal to introduce that model. Whether it's the current Chinese model or an MCE Regal, it would be welcomed lifeblood to Buick's new image campaign and give Buick a chance to phase out Lucerne and let LaCrosse take it's place. LaCrosse would be on the market long enough to where Regal would not steal it's thunder and would only further Buick's efforts for a younger demographic. I just see GM sitting on an opportunity like that as the same thinking of the "Old GM". Disappointing to say the least.

Re: Cadillac XTS and Buick Regal Confirmed!

Ok so XTS is a stupid name and isn't the Regal going to be similiar in size to the LaCrosse?? I still think the Insignia would of looked better as a Saturn or a Pontiac. The Buick brand doesn't make sense. But that's GM..

Re: Cadillac XTS and Buick Regal Confirmed!

XTS. I like it.

Funny how a string of three letters can induce certain feelings in a consumer. When I hear DTS I think clumsy. Maybe it's the letter D. Anyway, while I'm not a fan of the alphabet soup method of car naming, I think XTS is better than DTS, and certainly better than the French-derived DeVille. American cars should possess English names (or in this case letters). We've had enough of Sevilles, DeVilles, Grand Villes, ElDorados, ElCaminos, Granadas, Cordobas, Versailles, Lucernes, Calais, and Parisiennes.

Sixty Special anyone?

Re: Cadillac XTS and Buick Regal Confirmed!

How about if we try to come up with a better "name" that XTS? Such as Cadillac Standard, Cadillac Fleetwood, and Cadillac Ultra?

I suspect it will indeed reflect the Converj. Remember, the Converj was designed specifically for, and built on, a FWD platform. Its proportions, to my eye, were about perfect.( We'll have to wait and see how these themes look when scaled-up and given 4 doors.)

I do not know where the entry-level car is. Some say it's going ahead, others say it's on hold. The situation at GM is very tenuous these days. Once the way out of bankruptcy is clear (fingers crossed), I think we'll hear more about all product plans. Untl then, I think things will be vague at best.

The Regal is smaller than the LaCrosse. They ride on the same platform but the Regal is SWB and the LaCrosse is LWB.

I remember the posts that told us this. And I think it is probably true that an attempt will be made to adapt Voltec to a Cadillac. But I hope that, in the end, proper proportions and exciting design are held to be more important.

Nope. That idea died long ago. There may be a RWD Chevrolet sedan one day, but it won't be called Impala.

Why not? The Camry and Avalon are on the same basic platform along with the Highlander, the Sienna Mini van, and the Lexus ES and RX.

You don't know that's going to be the case.

Perhaps. But the Regal will have its own specific body and interior, and will not look like the current Insignia.(See Post #74, this thread, page 5.)

The Regal and LaCrosse will be about 4-6 inches different in length/wheelbase.

I'll get worried if and when GM gives Caddy a FWD car smaller than (or the same size as) the CTS (in the states.) Those cars need the sporting cred, and more importantly the differentiation from Buick and Chevy. But mommy-crossovers and enormous sedans are not mission-critically RWD.
Apparently FWD and big luxury don't mix. Have you ever seen an FWD luxury car be successful in it's class, especially at the pricepoint that it's slated to be in ($50K)? While its obvious that the car won't get any sporty, will it have the tech to sell? Will the car be well received? Either way, I'd highly doubt that the car will even be anywhere near as good as the Park Avenue.

Re: Cadillac XTS and Buick Regal Confirmed!

FWD + V8(or bigger) doesn't make any sense what-so-ever.

It's like "military" & "intelligence" 2 words combined that can't make sense.

Thus an XTS(or any Cadillac) on EpiII(or any FWD platform) is pointless!

The new sedan is NOT going to be priced anywhere near the CTS-V and will not even pretend to be as capable. It will be a superb, luxurious sedan for people that want just such a car, and there are alot of those people. If it offers all wheel drive, is beautiful to behold, and has an interior and features that rival its comeptition, then what is wrong??????????

.
And? A good lineup is a TEAM EFFORT. That said, how can Cadillac be a credible luxury competitor when there are only 1 sedan that is capable
of living up to the standard?
