I'm sure its been said already, but the biggest news to me is that the Volt will be built in the USA. I can't tell you how happy that makes me.

I totally agree Ronald that was an excellent chess move by the General to prove to our domestic hating friends and neighbors that DETROIT can have world class technology and engineering

Where I live in the midwest, big Volvos like the V70 and 850 are the luxury wagon of choice.

I'm confused (no news to most of you). It says Aura continues until 2011, with Saturn Global Epsilon (Eppy II?) beginning in 2009. Does Eppy II Aura only get a three year run? Maybe only at this factory - sounds inefficient.
If I'm reading this correctly, an all new car will supplant the Saturn Aura and it won't effectively replace it. This car is based on the extended Epsilon II platform. Also if this is correct, the Opel prototypes we've been seeing in spy reports is not the new Saturn Aura. A new flagship Saturn sedan, perhaps?

It is my understanding that this document references future production plans for the assembly plants located in the U.S. only as it relates to the Union workers. There are other locations like Canada, Mexico, and Australia. The new Pontiac G8 and possibly the GTO replacement will come from Australia. Other upcoming Pontiac models could also come from other countries. I don't think they are phasing the brand out.

Yes, because we all know how wagons have ruined BMW and Mercedes. I mean, who wants to be seen in a brand of car that makes lame-o wagons?

I wouldn't say before sliced bread....I'd say before lava lamps came along. Which would proabably be more accurate.

The release of this information just reinforces how stupid the UAW is.

"Look at us mom...we signed a new contract....here is our playbook that our coach wants us to learn..."

They just don't get it.

Hmmmmm. I don't see the Dayton/Moraine plant mentioned. I wonder how near the end is for the Envoy/Trailblazer?

Re: BREAKING NEWS: UAW Details Future GM Production & Product Plans In Documents Released

LMAO..... @ the people who really believe this whole "sales pitch" the union is peddeling! Gm can close down anyone of the plants listed tomorrow and the UNION can not do anything to stop it.. Promises made by GM at contract time with regards to product and capasity always come with the added statement of "subject to market conditions" A fact the union always seems to convieniently forget to include.. It all looks good in a ratification update but isn't worth the paper or ink used to print it..

With the US economy imploding and no action by governments to stem the tide of one way free trade, I am afraid things will get worse before they get better.. With lower projected sales it is hard to believe that GM is making these pledges in good faith.. It's nothing more than window dressing to "sell" the deal to members.. Something like $100 a barrell oil can shutter a few truc/suv plants over night.. Come on Guys GM's still has 2 wheels in the ditch ... If the economy and things down't turn around and quick ... None of these promisies will mean a thing!!!!
