Re: Americans Don't Love Trucks Anymore

I've been seeing brand new trucks and SUV's all over the place.
They're still selling out here. Especially GMC.

Re: Americans Don't Love Trucks Anymore

Went to Lowe's today and saw a brand new Silverado, and a Dodge Ram that was so new it still had the temporary license plate in the rear window. When I hear that truck/suv sales are dropping like a stone I can't believe it.

Re: Americans Don't Love Trucks Anymore

All this talk of falling prices on trucks makes me really want to trade in the Grand Prix for a Traiblazer SS or an Envoy

Re: Americans Don't Love Trucks Anymore

Well, I sold my '03 Mazda Tribute ES AWD (got decent mileage), and bought a 2008 F250 4x4 CrewCab V10 Lariat.

A) I got a good deal
B) I have wanted one for a long time
C) It will be in our family forever, as it can do anything I will ever need a truck to do
D) I completely love it, and it drives much smaller than it is
E) I drive very little, so the fuel economy is not an issue

I got a good price for my Mazda (sold it to the first guy that looked at it), and a good price on my new truck. It was a win/win situation.

That said, our local dealership was having a hard time on trucks for a couple of months. They got a bunch of work trucks in, and those have been selling well. The others picked back up last month also. There will always be a need for trucks.............. and it will always be a huge market. No, there will not be as many "driveway" trucks sold.............. and with the way that many people drive, this is a good thing.

People still love trucks. I know I love mine.

That's one hell of an upgrade, nice purchase.

Do you like the V10 so far? I really don't think the diesel is worth the extra expense right now.

Re: Americans Don't Love Trucks Anymore

I LOVE the V10. Pretty much everyone who has one loves it also. The engine is bulletproof, and has enough power that it is completely effortless to lug around this 7000lbs (362hp/457lbft). The Torqshift transmission is amazing also. It is always in the right gear, and there is no hesitation. The transmission was the thing I disliked about my Tribute, so I really notice it.

As Corey is 6-years-old now, I was always wanting for space. We couldn't go camping, couldn't buy a TT, couldn't buy a boat, and couldn't go to the dump (we are in a small community)............. because it was too small, couldn't tow enough, and had no bed.

We thought that we would buy a 2005-2007 with the V10, and just drove the 2008 for ****s and giggles. Well, after that, there was no way we could get the older truck. The improvements in the '08 are VERY noticable. The interior is gorgeous, and the leather is of very high quality (found out they are Superhides made in Montana, and are one of the best hides available). I have Navigation, the rear DVD, audiophile sound, Tow Command, and those great mirrors.

Basically I love my new truck. For what it is, and what it can do (14Klbs with a 5th wheel), it gets very good mileage also. It will only get better as it breaks in. The really cool part, is my payment is only $100 more than it was on my Tribute.

Sorry to go off topic folks, I'm just real excited about my new truck (had it 1 month). It is the nicest vehicle I have ever had. Ford really got this right.

I agree on the diesel. I do not drive enough (300-500 miles a month), to ever make it worth the extra initial expense ($5k), the extra maintenance, or the 24% price premium for diesel here. That says alot, as my husband drives big truck for a living.

Re: Americans Don't Love Trucks Anymore

Again congrats, I wish Chevy would offer a solid front axle, they're just so much tougher than an IFS.

Or the extra Headaches. The 6.4L's seem ok so far, other than rad leaks. But any major repairs require lifting the Cabs.

Our old wagons could hold full 4x8 sheets of plywood and tow well over the rated 5k. Too bad they are gone because almost everyone in the family now has a fullsize truck and a SUV.
.
Imagine where the SSR would be today if it were made more as an option from the chassis of an Impala, stripped down cheaper version? Kind of like the original version of the El Camino.

Re: Americans Don't Love Trucks Anymore

Ok............. lets see if this works. I only have pics of the exterior right now. I have to clean my navigation screen to get interior pics, and with school starting for my son, I haven't taken the time (clean up the rest of the truck all the time. LOL).

It is actually Pueblo Gold over black, with the camel interior. In the pics, it looks more silver, but that is the lighting. If it was actually silver, I would have never bought it.

SEE PICS BELOW.

Sorry to do it this way, but I was having alot of problems with the attachment manager. It would "fail to upload" constantly. Funny, they worked fine on BON.

I will get an interior pic tomorrow.
None of the links work, you have to be a member to view the photo's.

You should consider getting a free account with Photobucket. You can upload your photo's to this site and use the "[img/]" link to post the pictures directly to any website you like. You will be able to see the photo's without clicking on the links.

I will get that done today, and get the interior pics also. Sorry for the problem, but I was getting real annoyed last night. I just registered with photobucket.
