Re: Actual GM Production Figures: 03/06
Interesting Notes:
Solstice/Sky Ratio: 71% to 29% Hummer H3 production: 6,565! Imagine that plant without this product! Tahoe production: 24,716! (Note that no extended versions are in production yet, allowing for this figure.) |

Re: Actual GM Production Figures: 03/06
A little off topic, but Perian's post reminds me of the difficulty that I've been having trying to find first quarter global sales for Toyota and GM. I'm curious to see how the race is going.
I ask because maybe Perian can pull a rabbit out of his hat and provide the numbers, cuz I aint having any luck. |

http://pressroom.toyota.com/Releases...T2006040381437 Here are thier worldwide production for Feb (and Jan/Feb combined): http://www.toyota.co.jp/en/news/06/0324_2.html This last one was dated March 24, so they probably won't have worldwide numbers for the quarter until April 24th-ish. If you take thier Jan/Feb numbers and multiply by 150%, you would get about 1.95 million vehicles (not counting Daihatsu and Hino) or about 2.15 million (counting Daihatsu and Hino). So it looks like they've got a little way to go still. If you count GM Daewoo or GM's Chinese affiliates in GM's total, you have to count Daihatsu and Hino, methinks. Here's a fun number: Toyota has a 47.3% share of the Japanese market (not counting Keicars; 42.6% if you count Keicars). Sounds like GM at it's peak in the US. |

I wonder how close production and sales will be matched. I know you cannot exactly extrapolate quarterly sales to yearly sales (car makers tend to sell less cars in the winter months; it's currently winter/spring in GM's largest markets), but the above suggests GM's 2006 sales might rise about 5% globally. I sense Toyota will be up more than that for 2006. |

Re: Actual GM Production Figures: 03/06
The Impala numbers are staggering! Wow, I never thought it was that high. Three times the Grand Prix and Lacrosse/Allure combined. It makes you wonder, perhaps Toyota with the Camry and Honda with the Accord or Nissan with the Altima have it right? Do we need so many product lines? How many Grand Prix/Lacrosse buyers would have bought an Impala if that was all GM had to offer? Can GM afford the extra production and development costs associated with these two extra models? Perhaps they would be more profitable with less models but more R&D?
