The Americans will take both awards. GM will win NATOTY with the Equinox... Its non-hybrid gas mileage along with its interior and exterior beauty will be undeniable.
Ford will win NACOTY with the Taurus. It looks to be a great vehicle and a great re-imagining of a well known nameplate. Though I feel that the LaCrosse will match the quality of the Taurus, and in my opinion is more beautiful both inside and out than the Taurus, GM will not take both awards. Ford will be rewarded for its entire product line with the Taurus taking the honors. |

Re: 2010 NACOTY Contenders Announced!
Taurus does nothing but fit a big price tag on a cheap name, and I love the Taurus. Family has had 5. My first car was a Taurus. I wish nothing but the best, but the Taurus's price is too high, and doesnt break any ground in the segment. Its just that Ford realized that they can make a good car if they try.
LaX isnt either. Great car, but no. If these cars got 30+mpg If it offered advanced technology If it did things other then being a nice car, then I could see it. Price is too high and is not a game changer Malibu was a great looking car at an amazing price. Genny sedan was ground breaking car for a company like Hyundai, offering luxury and quality that is unmatched. Insight, Fusion, or Prius. They are your winners. Pick one.

Re: 2010 NACOTY Contenders Announced!
sat in a new 010 taurus the other day at a dealer showing. its shocking how nice it is, the whole car oozes class and honestly makes the g8 seem a little low rent. an absolute total transformation.
and there were lots of folks there for the showing, there is interest in this car. what will put taurus over the top, the new features like adaptive cruise and BLIS and massaging seats plus the ecoboost. fusion hybrid might win. camaro has an outside chance. prius can't win. as new as it is, its really just a reworked version of whats been around forever. |

Re: 2010 NACOTY Contenders Announced!
I'm pulling for the Buick, but I dunno if it will win.
I don't see the Taurus winning. It is a nice car but, it also has a nice price tag. Offering a well rounded car in the 25k-40k bracket is the norm not the exception. Not to mention the Taurus nameplate is decidedly non-premium. They will probably go with a hybrid (Fusion, Prius, Insight). I would say the Fusion based on the fact that it is an American midsize sedan with best in class MPG. That, unlike the Taurus, is something really special. I'm hoping they will buy into the beauty of the LaCrosse though. Remember the Epsilon's have a good track record with this award! (Aura, Malibu)

Re: 2010 NACOTY Contenders Announced!
Not sure this year - definitely no standout for TOTY, although the Equinox does up the ante in it's segment. I really hope one of these SUCs (Sport Utility Coupes) does not win.
Could be a Ford sweep: COTY: Taurus (return to high volume?) or Fusion Hybrid (beating the king of hybrids at their own game) TOTY: Transit connect (redefinition of the work van, at least in NA) |

Re: 2010 NACOTY Contenders Announced!
i think it is note worthy that the TOTY award does not include an actual truck!!! This should be the SUVOTY award!!!
and second i think you all are not giving enough credit to the Lacrosse or the Prius. Heck the prius top level package you get a car that parks itself, will slam on the brakes to avoid a crash. will correct the driver when he begins to drift out of the lane, not to mention a plug-in coming mid model year. for just over 30k you get a car that practically drives itself! and gets combined 50mpg wowwwww

Re: 2010 NACOTY Contenders Announced!
Toyota Prius!!! some for 5k over!!!
And Im lucky enough to sell cars at a Chevy Toyota Dealership!!! We cant keep either of these on the lot. we have received 18 prius thus far and of those 18 16 were pre sold and one of the others was sold within 4 hr of arrival the last is not for sale until we get more in, why because we need a car to take orders off of!!!

![]() $30k for 50mpg. Hmmm... I'd rather wait for 2011 and get that GM car that gets ~100-150 mpg for only $32.5k (after Govt. incentives). Woweee! ![]() |

and no they are not new technology but is alot of technology for a $30k car. what other car can you buy for $32k with that kind of technology? Not the ford tauraus, not the buick lacrosse! both are great cars and if you dont want to spend 30k then you can get a base prius for $23.5 at MSRP (no rebates required) and still get 50mpg!

Re: 2010 NACOTY Contenders Announced!
If anything, I'm sure the LaCrosse will not take the COTY honors. It's overhyped from what it really is. The Buick that DID mark the turn of the brand was the Enclave, which unfortunately did not win TOTY last year.

It'll be either Camaro or 370Z.
