I think it is silly to have the Transit Connect on the list. Its like saying the Chevy Express should win.
The Express is not eligible because it was not redesigned this year.

Also, isn't the fusion only a MCE, not a redesign?

x2 for the Chevy Volt being the 2011 Car of the Year. We may as well call it right now.
You read what I wrote wrong. What I said was that it's the "eco-car" that most people want. If you talk to people who are in any way thinking about the environment their first thought is the Prius. It has little to do with whether or not everyone wants one.

It's like saying the sports car most people want is the 911. Doesn't mean everyone is out buying one, it's just the one at the top of most people's minds.

And, yeah, it's a foregone conclusion for 2011. Short of catastrophe the Volt will win every award out there. It's literally a new type of car.

Re: 2010 NACOTY Contenders Announced!

My sister currently drives a 2008 Lexus RX330. She got behind a new Equinox the other day in LA and really liked the look of it. She was a bit disappointed when I told her that it doesn't come with a Hybrid drivetrain but was really surprised at how good the fuel economy is compared to the smaller CR-V and the Rav4. She hasn't had a GM vehicle let alone American since 2000. I told her to wait for the Cadillac SRX since it's in the same price range as the RX. If the Chevy can impress a Lexus owner, I'd say the NOX should get the award.

It's called "desirability". Good a reason as any for the Camaro to win.

Ford really has a great 1+2 punch with the reworked Fusion and the all new Taurus to match the Avalon and Camry. Ford should have a non SHO version with DI and no Turbo of maybe 280 -300hp so it can match the Acrua TL or Lexus. What do you all think ?

Re: 2010 NACOTY Contenders Announced!

The Camaro is sort of been there done that x 50.

I mean, it's just another retro v8 RWDer by a mainstream brand.

As nice as the Camaro is, it's not that revolutionary or game-changing.

A high-quality, turbocharged Taurus SHO--now that's awesome.

Same way a SUV is considered a truck, and a minivan is considered a truck.

When you go to register your new equinox, on the title it is classified as a truck.

CrossTour... yuck. Looks like a CRX limo.

Truck: Equinox

With segment leading 32 hwy. mpg, Malibu-like interior, and a very affordable price, this is a very significant vehicle. It's a no-brainer.

Car: Taurus

While it is isn't much of a green car, it's a major transformation for the Ford Taurus and Ford Motor Company.

Either Taurus or Fusion Hybrid for COTY. I'd bet on Fusion Hybrid taking it, though.
