Re: 2010 NACOTY Contenders Announced!
Ford will likely get COTY... if they want to go green, the Fusion (Hybrid) will get the nod, go more "all around" and the Taurus gets it. Camaro, Lacrosse, Prius, and Z will be up there as well.
The Equinox will probably get TOTY as already stated... if they did it by "platform" the Thetas as a group would win by a mile. Transit Connect will get some votes, as will XC60. |

I can see this too. Didn't the Golf already win World Car of the Year already?

As I read those names I was like "getting harder, harder, harder" then I read Prius and I was like "Damn I lost it".

Re: 2010 NACOTY Contenders Announced!
I think the COTY is focusing on more than that. While I love the Camaro and it's my favorite from the list, the CTS Wagon, for example, has the potential to revolutionize America's roads by weaning people off SUVs and still providing little league transport, and may increase the brand's presence in Europe, where cars of this style are already popular.
Of course you never know, there's that Kia on there - WTF did it ever do? |

I think it is silly to have the Transit Connect on the list. Its like saying the Chevy Express should win.

Re: 2010 NACOTY Contenders Announced!
Between the Taurus and LaCrosse it will be tough. The Camaro has a chance, but it is too much of an image car to win these kinds of awards.

Re: 2010 NACOTY Contenders Announced!
I'd bet on the Fusion, maybe the Taurus for car. They usually don't pick specialty cars like the 370Z, Camaro, S4, Z3, etc.
Nox seems likely for truck, but never count the Honda out.

Re: 2010 NACOTY Contenders Announced!
I doubt the Buick LaCrosse probably can win on meritt but it is arguably the most important car as the attempted rebirth of Buick depends on it. GM escorted Pontiac and Saturn to the slaughter pen to keep Buick despite its horrible sales and tired US demographic. The LaCrosse needs to turn Buick into a relevant brand in a way similar to what Enclave has done.

As for the Buick, I kind of hope it wins to just get the well-deserved attention and respect it needs. I want to see the brand thrive. |

Re: 2010 NACOTY Contenders Announced!
I don't know about the Camaro winning as it's an image car and probably not going to have a lot of overall market significance.
What surprises me are vehicles that are on the list like the BMX 5 series GranTurismo, the Honda crosstour and the 2010 Toyota 4Runner as none have been officially released yet. Pictures of the 4Runner haven't been seen yet without camoflage unlike the other two. DDL |
