Several New Forums Added to GMI!

In response to customer requests, we have added several new forums!

News-
Alternative Fuels and Propulsion News

This forum is a catch all for news on Diesel, E85, Hybrid, Fuel Cell, etc discussion. If it takes off, we will further break the forum up in to subcategories.

Union and Labor Relations News

With UAW negotiations upcoming, I felt that this was an important enough subject to have it's own forum. If it is slow, we will fold it back into General Industry News.

Discussion-
Automotive Hobbies Discussion

This is a place to discuss automotive related hobbies...such as diecasts, models, and memorabilia collecting.

The Snake Pit

This is the forum I was most weary of adding. Basically, this forum is for auto industry discussion without our normal "Pro GM" moderation. Meaning, if you like GM, and get your efeelings hurt easy by Toyota fanboys, this is not the forum for you. Also, when a news topic gets out of hand (a.k.a. any Tundra news article), the thread will be copied to the snake pit. The news thread will be left open, and heavily moderated for trolling. The version copied to the snake pit will be left open for discussion and banter of which brand is better, etc. Don't bother reporting threads because someone is saying Toyota is great...because the mods will not help.

That being said, all forum rules on language and posting decorum still apply. If you are obviously trolling, failing to make intelligent conversation, or not presenting yourself as a mature individual, we will take action. If you break the rules in the snake pit, you will be warned once. Break them again, and you will lose access to the forum for good. I am asking you guys to please help make this work...I think it could be a good thing for the site. If it turns into a wasteland of irrelevant posts, we will remove it.

Thanks!

Great ideas! I love GM cars but am fascinated by the industry, overall, and feel it is appropriate to discuss GM as well as other companies objectively - great ideas for the new forums! Thanks!

Re: Several New Forums Added to GMI!

I have a feeling we are in for alot of trouble with the "Snake Pit". I won't be visiting that forum much at all. Hopefully we can get the trouble makers to stay there and keep out of the others.

Re: Several New Forums Added to GMI!

Snake Pit is a great idea - it will give folks an early warning system that a thread has gone 'south' and they prob wont be interested in it anymore.

Ive seen this as the 'Flame War' area on other sites

Nice additions.

In the future, maybe a nice little section of the site devoted to me. I just don't think there's an adequate place for everyone to discuss all the great virtues I possess.

Re: Several New Forums Added to GMI!

I fear theres going to be many grudge matches and domestic/foreign car fanboy casualties that will result from the 'snake pit' forum. I will try and keep my distance.

Re: Several New Forums Added to GMI!

The whole point of the Snake Pit forum is to keep the pissing matches off of the other forums. That way those who don't like to see or participate in such...don't have to. But those who feel the need to engage in such, can do so with virtually no moderation (in terms of topic-related discussion).

I like the ideas of these forums! Unfortunately, to not spend too much time on the web, I'll have to steer clear so I don't get into in-depth debates in some of these forums!
