GMInsidenews is proud to announce that we have teamed up with Autoline Detroit for an upcoming interview session with General Motors Vice Chairman of Global Product Development Tom Stephens. The interview is taking place next Monday, September 21st between 10-11 AM EDT. GMInsidenews will be displaying both the live webcast and live chat (to ask questions) right here on our site. Tom will be taking your live questions during the show through the chat, but you can get your questions and comments in now! You can phone in a question to 1-620-288-6546 (1-620-AUTOLIN) or send an e-mail to viewermail@autolinedetroit.tv – just make sure you put “Tom Stephens Question” in the Subject line. Also, don’t forget to identify yourself as a member of GMInsidenews when you call or write so Autoline can mention you on the air

Tom Stephens is the successor to Bob Lutz as the head of Global Product Development now that Lutz has moved on to the marketing side. Prior to taking this position Stephens was in-charge of GM Powertrain.

So prepare your questions now and come back to GMI on the 21st to participate in what we expect will be an informative interview!

How many "we want RWD sedans" comments do you think we can submit before Monday?

Good work wrangling this.

He does seem to know what he's talking about. He's not a bombastic. larger than life, ball-coach like Mr. Lutz, but he knows what makes a good vehicle. And what's more, I think he knows how to do it.

Re: GMInsidenews Teams Up With Autoline Detroit

Congratulations on lining up Mr. Stephens! I have to be at work at that time, so could someone pelase ask him how putting a Buick badge on the Opel Insignia and Opel Astra is any less disturbing than putting a Buick grille on a Saturn VUE (and we saw what the reaction to that was!)? In other words, why can't Buick have smaller cars designed as true Buicks (not hand-me-down Opels), with the chrome grille plus portholes plus a sweepsear. They can share platforms and engineering, but give them real Buick designs, beautiful, flowing curves. Ed Welburn, especially, recently made so much about Buick's design renaissance (blah-blah-blah) and now it seems they're simply putting Buick grilles on other things. Thank you.

That and questions about light duty diesel engines for compact North American vehicles should be very popular.

This is a great opportunity for us GM fans to get some burning questions answered. I have time to come up with a good question; hoping they'll pick me.

It's this type of effort that I imagine makes this site so popular. Well done, GMI leaders!
