GMI Makes News: Fans design dream lineups for GM brands

GMI Makes News...AGAIN!

The dedicated General Motors supporters at GMInsideNews are tired of waiting for GM to come up with the compelling model lineups that will propel its brands back to market leadership, so they've taken matters into their own hands, with a minisite called Revitalization in Action.

The first marque to receive the group's revitalization efforts is Buick, once tagged by Bob Lutz as one of GM's "damaged brands." The GMI group's product ideas are based on an encyclopedic knowledge of GM drivetrain and chassis architectures, as well as finely tuned Photoshop skills,...More Here!

Although I think it's cool that we are making the press. The only complaint I have with these photchops, is that they are really nothing new. Basically you just copy parts of existing cars together, kinda Frankenstein-ish.

Original stuff like this:

are OK.

But I honestly think many of the photchops look kinda Frankenstein-ish. Original drawings are OK, but not photchops.

Again, super sweet for fbodyrules and ChevyRevived!

Just when you think your thoughts and ideas carry no weight.

Now, if only the GM suits surfed the web from time to time for inspiration...

funny you say that when most of the chop that FBODY did came from a rendering of the Bentley Continental Flying Spur sedan I have in one of my autoshow phamplets from Chicago this year (Road & Track special report)...

Awesome guys, great job yet again. Trust me, people at GM do pay attention to this site. Maybe GMI will help GM improve the product.

Forget that whole Nissan/Renault thing. Maybe GM should merge with us.

Excellent work gentleman. Hopefully the more exposure this forum gets, the more people will use it as their own resource and the more GM will take the opinions and ideas from this site more seriously. We all know the shortcomings of the current Escalade, and I'm sure many who worked on the project do also. I surmise that financial decisions (See: Cost-benefit relationship) had a signifcant role as well as packaging/quality control issues possibly influencing the decision. Maybe lining up supplier accounts also?

Re: GMI Makes News: Fans design dream lineups for GM brands

Congratulations again guys!

And if anybody had any doubts as to that Autoblog = "What we read at Edmunds"... Anyway, this shows how easy it is to start a nationwide media hype - why not purport a gossip that Kerkorian is in fact an alien who wants to destroy earth and this merger plan is a scam to cover up what would allow him to do that?

To those complaining that chops including heritage design cues are nothing new - I believe that Firebird1234's (or am I mistaking the numbers) drawings could be included in the next "instalment" of "revitalization" - he has some pretty cool and innovative styling concepts there!
