You've never tried to convince a mom to buy a vehicle without SLIDING SIDE DOORS, I'll wager.
Carrying groceries and a kid, having that auto sliding door makes or breaks a purchase. Many people will not even consider the Lambda crossovers because they lack that feature. Besides, the long snout of most crossovers and "SUVs" make the vehicles less utlitarian, and the only reason is to present the "tough" image of truck based SUVs, and perhaps to get a little more dash or leg room.
Minivans are here to stay. Question is, will GM and Ford just surrender that market to the Japanese.
