but yes, you're right. The oneupmanship game is healthy, for the most part, and is the reason we have some pretty awesome options today!
Gets me thinking of some of GMs original ideas (or at least ones they brought back to life recently), such as Quadrasteer, NightVision, and Heads Up Display. None seemed to catch on, but I'm glad they're continually innovating.
