If you are looking for the absolute cheapest car in it's size class, or the cheapest in ownership costs, the Prius is not it.

For some buyers though, it is what they are looking for. Prius buyers may be looking for something the throws less polutants into the air. They may just want something different. They may be buying it as a hedge against a beleif they may have that gas will reach $5 a gallon.

Personally, none of those reasons do it for me, but for people who want to buy them, if it makes them happy so be it.
