If gas mileage were the reason why vehicles sold, the Geo Metro XFi would have outsold the rest of the Metro lineup...which it didn't. Gas mileage (especially EPA ratings) is not the reason why people buy cars in the US. And definitely not the defining criteria to pick one vehicle over the next. Fuel efficiency ranks down on the average buyers check list.
