Why didn't he use the DIC for mileage. Yes I know that hand calculation is more accurate, This tester totally lost me with that observation. The Silverado and its Sierra counterpart are very good trucks, and I was glad to see that he recognized that part of the review. People who buy 3/4 ton diesel trucks either use them to tow RV's or for their work. And there are some diehard truck guys out there who buy diesel, just for a diesel.
My two cents worth, sorry about the rant.

There are no standardized mpg ratings for the diesel trucks, but nothing I've found suggests there's much more than 1 mpg difference in favor of the diesels. I quoted the other mileage just to give some faint context of full-size truck miles per gallon, not to suggest that was what the diesel model would return.
Using the trip computer wouldn't have generated a usable number either, because the driving was not representative of normal use and wouldn't be able to be compared to any other vehicle.
