Cadillac is going global. The pushrods do not have the same "halo" in other countries that they have in the US.
ADding pushrod engines to the Cadillac lineup would be a complete waste of time.

I disagree, because of Chrysler's Hemi. Nobody's been complaining about that, and it's a pushrod engine.
And look at cost. For example, look at the midsize luxury sedans. All the luxury brands have 6 cylinder models in the $35,000 to $50,000 range (525, 530, E320, M35, A6 V6, RL, GS300, etc...) and a ~ 300-350 horsepower V8 in the $45,000-$60,000 range (545, E500, M45, A6 V8, GS430, etc...). The current STS fits right in with that, base price about $40,000 for the STS V6 and $50,000 for the STS V8.
GM will be offering the 300 horsepower with Displacement on Demand LS4 in cars that you can get for $30,000, maybe less. What if you can get a 300 horsepower engine for $40,000 in the base STS? The next cheapest competitor with that much power will be the $48,000 Acura RL.
Then when you spend $50,000 on the STS you get the LS2. That's 50 more horsepower than the closest competition for the same price.
And the STS-V, while it will be extremely fast, on paper can't possibly compete with the M5 or the E55. If you put the LS7 in there, it's a different story.
