Re: What's your ideal Caddy lineup?
I think the best engine GM makes - arguably, the best engines in their class, period, are the LS4 (300 horsepower pushrod aluminum V8 with displacement on demand), the LS2 (400 horsepower pushrod aluminum V8), and the LS7 (500 horsepower pushrod aluminum V8). Dump the NorthStar and supercharged Northstar and spend the money that was being wasted on them making their better pushrod engines more quiet and/or adding more sound dampening materials to each model.
I read somewhere - maybe in these forums - that the V12 engine under development will be pushrod, too.
So this is the lineup I'd like to see:
CTS with 3.6 liter V6, LS4
CTS-V with LS2
STS with LS4, LS2
STS-V with LS7
DTS AWD, available with LS4 and LS2
XLR with LS4, LS2
XLR-V with LS7
Ultra Luxury Sedan (but I don't like the acronym ULS, find something different)
with LS2, LS7
Ultra Luxury Sedan-V with new V12
SRX with LS4, LS2
Escalade with LS2, LS7, new V12
... if Chrysler's pushrod Hemi can be considered an awesome modern engine by the automotive press, there's no reason that GM can't use pushrods in their own luxury models.
