Well I live in Prince George, British Columbia, basically the middle of BC, and the start of nothingness as you head North from Vancouver, some people say Williams lake is the start of it but PG is pretty good size town still, about 80,000 ppl..
Anyhow, I drive my YJ like this...Daily Drive it at that..
no flares, no flaps, tires stick out a good 2 inches on all corners. No problems as of yet. Nor do most people here. The cops are decent about it here, EVEN all te trucks I posted that were sold in Town or in the oil patch, no problems with those either.
This unit went to the Queen Charlotte Islands, and apparently some cop there has a stick up his ass.
BY LAW YES IT IS ILLEGAL, say in the book 'no part of the tire shall stick out past wheel opening, proper guards must be on.
OK fair enough. BUT this is not some off road rig, sliging mud down the highway..Some peopel will argue that it is a hazard for throwing rocks and debris at vehicles behind you. MAybe but is it anyworse the a stock Ford or Dodge with their 20 something inchs of tire showing between the road and the bottom of the trucks, not really.
Aside form the sticking out, this had less tire showing from the road up then a stock 3/4 or 3500.
