The market size for the GTO was an issue, as Canada's sports car market is less than 10% the size of the USA's, and didn't warrant the extra investment to change the car's structure. (if you look closely, however, Canadian and American G8's are slightly different behind the bumpers, to meet the previously different bumper laws)
