While the V6 has good power output, it sounds like a V6, and that sound is not nearly as nice as that made by a 90 degree V8. I would prefer that GM bring back a small displacement V8 as the base engine, and equip it with cylinder shut-off technology and direct injection. Since many current buyers have never owned a vehicle with a V8 engine, the better sound might be a very pleasant surprise during test drives.
