Re: Motortrend - First Drive: 2010 Chevrolet Camaro V-6
If the LS, 300 HP V6 version comes in nearer rather than further its $22,9ish price, this will be a home run for General Motors.
I drive a Mazda RX-8, and can't deny that the exterior design of the Camaro makes me salivate, while I'm slowly warming to the interior.
If the near 30 mpg highway ratings are accurate, and the build quality is up to snuff, wow - just wow.
General Motors may have finally produced the product to get my ass out of Japanese cars for the first time in...what...15 years?
I'm 36.
I had so many bad experiences with GM in the mid and late 80s (and early 90s) that I swore off the badge and never thought I'd come back into the fold.
Edit - Please, please, please GM - get the 'thunkery,' 'solidity' sound that the Germans achieve when you shut the door on your vehicles. Little details like that matter a LOT. Just because the car has a retro feel and heritage aspect does not mean that you can't bring it fully into the modern world of build and perception quality. I do not want to hear the doors shudder or reverberate when I shut them. I want to hear a single, quick, solid thunk. How hard is that?
I am so very much cheering for General Motors right now, but they have to deliver.
