These stories are kind of funny because you don't usually hear companies in their state thinking merger. Maybe GM doesn't realize the shape they're in. Or maybe they're anxious to gobble up their competitors before they hit the reset button and file bankruptcy. I can see a partnership with one or the other, more Ford than Chrysler, but I can't for the life of me see how taking on one or the other is going to boost GM's bottom line any time soon.
