The Mazda 3 technically doesn't compete against the Cruze. I also doubt that the Jetta also competes with it (but I am not sure in this case). Even then those two cars can't compete against the Cruze in terms of whats under its skin. The TDI has a chance to reach the Cruze's mpg numbers, but the price difference may not exactly be worth it.
