Re: 2009 Pontiac G3 coming to the US
This is more reason why GM should just put all of its brands under one gigantic roof.
BPG dealers are right to ask for a fuel efficient car because without one, they have no sales. You can't compare Pontiac to BMW... People are willing to pay sticker (which most likely has a nice profit built in) for BMWs, but people still want to pay below sticker for a Pontiac. BMW owners will pay an arm and a leg to have their oil changed at the dealer, but many Pontiac ownwers scoff at the dealer's oil change price and will take their cars to Jiffy Lube. So how is a BPG dealer to survive without a larger supply of cars?
Personally, I like the G3 more than the Aveo, and the G3 certainly looks like a mini-Vibe. Pontiac is already damaged goods, and given today's economy, GM can not turn it into a one or two vehicle brand and still keep it (and the dealer network) profitable.
If GM (and many Pontiac die-hards here) want to see Pontiac as a RWD-only/sporty brand, give Buick the G5 rebadge. I know - dumb idea.
