I don't understand GM's problem here.
The G8 is Zeta, and more spacious in cabin and trunk than the STS. Presumably GM makes a profit selling it for $27,000.
Cadillac-ize the styling. Quiet it down. Add the luxury options. Stretch the car maybe 4 inches, so it matches or beats the DTS on space. Put in the two mode hybrid system. Done.
If GM can profit selling a RWD two-mode SUV hybrid for $51,000, then I'm certain that somewhere between the $27,000 price of a G8 and the $50,000 price of a DTS they can find room to put two-mode into Zeta and still make a profit.
