So yeah. They should be compared. If GM can get 28 MPG out of a 60 year old engine, they should be able to get AT LEAST the same from a "modern" DOHC VVT V6. But apparently they can't. Freakin losers.

wrong and wrong, go and actually look up the adjusted numbers on the epa's website, the LS1/6-speed is officially corrected for 17/26, not 28 (although many people have been known to get high 20's mpg). Also F-bodies were a little lighter and more aerodynamic (probably) than the new Zeta model.
But if you're saying LS motors aren't "modern" just because they don't have OHC, you need a reality check. Maybe the 300 hp LS1 is about as fuel efficient as a 300 hp v6 because the LS1 is a good design, as opposed to being "Freakin losers".
