Perhaps, but to believe that Toyota's being down and GM's being down are synonymous events is not at all accurate. The management of that downturn is very much different. Toyota, Honda and Nissare all are compensating with other models in a very significant way; looking at the top ten sellers in the country readily demonstrates that. Looking at the plans for Toyota's more flexible plants versus GM's old "tried-and-true" plan of just closing plants and handing out pink slips is evidence of that. And the fact that Toyota's turning in black ink, Honda just posted a record quarterly profit, whereas GM continues with the red ink river, is further evidence of that.
