Re: 350 hp V-6 Mustang???
Are we sure what was actually said in Motor Trend? There's an article in the Sept. '08 issue on page 16 about the Fusion GT. The last sentence reads:
"Ford is looking at an EcoBoost I-4 for the Edge crossover; an EcoBoost V-6 Mustang with more power than the Mustang GT -- the first north-south application of the engine family -- is apparently on hold."
Of course, things that come out of Motor Trend ought to be taken with a grain of salt because, on the previous page, they're still convinced that the 6.2L Boss V8 is going to appear in the '10 Mustang. As impressive as this would be, no one else seems to be corroborating it and it's probably not in Ford's interest anyway with CAFE issues. As such it must be assumed that the 5.0L V8 is still the next major premium engine earmarked for the Mustang. Besides, with its noticeable weight advantage, a Mustang with a 5.0L V8 making horsepower in the high 300s ought to keep up with a Camaro or Challenger.
