The Fall after Hurricane Katrina I paid $1.99.9 gallon in SC also.
It's been on a steady rise prety much since then.
Now we long for gas under $2.50.

How is that even possible? When I got my license, in 1991, I was paying .86 cents a gallon.

I dunno about the SC having the lowest gas in the nation historically. That's always been NJ due to our much lower gas taxes...

EDIT- Here's a graph from fueleconomy.gov It reflects about how I remember gas prices being over the last 10+ years.
