Re: Real world MPG
1971 Cadillac.....I don't even bother calculating. I tell people 10 mpg, but I suspect it's less.
1993 Camry I4 AT EPA rated 21 cty/28 hwy. I have never gotten below 21 (summer, AC blasting), I average 24-25 mpg. On the freeway it gets low 30's, but that's with me running 80 mph. One time I touched 40 mpg! But that was a lot of steady 55 mph.
2006 Nissan Armada 4x4: EPA rated it at 14 cty/18 hwy. This one's tricky because I tow with it every weekend. But I average 14 (including said towing). On a long trip towing the travel trailer, I can get as low as 10.5 mpg. One the open freeway, it's possible to see 18 mpg, and one time I did get 19 mpg. Typical freeway jaunts with the family I get 16.5 mpg at ~75 mph (non towing).
