Re: Real world MPG
A big difference is what people consider city driving. There is suburban areas with stoplights every few miles (with hills and curvy roads such as in my area) and then there is true city with stoplights at every block like NYC.
Right now during the summer when I just have work, I drive primarily 4 miles each way. The route has a bit of stop and go because I pass the Mall of GA which has stoplights at every block. There are also a few hills in there. I get about 21 mpg right now.
During school, I work only 2-3 days a week and go to school everyday which is 10 miles each way on back roads, with A LOT of curvy parts, with a few stoplights here and there, and a few hilly areas. This has gotten me 25-26 mpg. I wonder what it would be like if I had a V6 and didn't have to downshift the transmission at every hill. I would guess it might actually come out to the same.
