I agree the Malibu with the 6 speed auto and 4 cylinder is a 'better car" than the cobalt, but you have to remember, to get the Malibu in that configuration you need to at least get the LT package and upgrade to the 6 speed, so you are talking close to a $22k or $23k MSRP, with fewer incentives and cars selling closer to invoice...rather than a Cobalt you can probably get for well under $15,000 when dealer haggling and incentives are figured in. Probably a $7000-$10000 difference. A better car with more features? yes...but at a much larger cost of entry.
