Absolutely. Aside from GM's volume business model with trucks that has long favored its big trucks over its small ones, I can't see any reason why a 4-cylinder Silverado (or Camaro for that matter) would make much sense. Ford and GM seem awfully averse to promoting (marketing) and selling more than a small number of their Canyonrodo and Ranger small trucks.

You either beef up and turbo the 4-banger so much that its fuel efficiency is near gone, or you have a gutless wonder trying to haul around a whole lot of weight.

Where are the announcements related to the partnership with GM do Brasil regarding the smaller trucks they were supposed to be helping on?

Ford or GM doing a 4-banger F-150 and Silverado just looks like a desperate attempt to sell their most profitable trucks in an environment that is hostile towards large trucks. If they can somehow swing the fuel economy while maintaining some get up and go, more power to them. If not, save us the embarassment it will cause.

On the other hand, I've long been saying how the Japanese and Chinese carry around huge loads with 3-cylinder trucks, so perhaps a turbocharged 4 is not so ridiculous (still would make more sense in a smaller truck).
