GM isn't giving it a fair chance. No real updates to the interior or powertrain since it started.....It would be an easy update. Keep the chassis, updated the suspension settings, thrown in a six speed auto, and give it a very clean interior similar to the Silverado "work truck" interior.
The SS is the best thing about the Trailblazer- and it's worth buying. I'd like to have seen a Z71 version as well.
It's a decent chassis with moderate off road capability, low range four wheel drive, and a 6,000 lb towing capacity. Ford even updated the Explorer since then.
The problem is that the Trailblazer can't be a minivan. It's too heavy...but that body on frame chassis can be a real bonus if you have a trailer to tow. Expedition or Tahoe drivers may need to step down into a mid sized truck....but still need four wheel drive and a decent towing capacity. The Toyota 4runner and Explorer or the only real choices now. The Trailblazer should be as well.
