So let me get this straight. It cost GM $2 billion to close Oldsmobile. I get a sneaking feeling it would have been cheaper to create four new Oldsmobile products than it was to shut the brand down.
I sense a nefarious sleight of hand here...

more reality: one of many response letters flowing in to GeneralWatch.com...
"I love reading your articles, I have told you this before. I do want to say my dealership stresses product knowledge! Product knowledge sells cars, not prices. But, my big complaint is with the "Value Pricing." Where we used to be able to over-allow like our competitors, we no longer can. Where we used to have room with the lenders for them to cut us back and still keep a deal, we no longer can.
"I totally agree with you on rebates and incentives. It is crazy when you have to tell a customer, "I am not sure what the rebate is on this specific vehicle." You lose all credibility immediately. Thank you for keeping the real issues raised when it comes to GM. You can take us to a new level!!! Too bad my vote for you means nothing...
Thanks again,
Chuck"
