Phooey! let Buick compete hard. Their cars are far enough from Cadillac in image, style and layout to appeal to different prople.
Two pronged attack on the luxury prestige market for mine, and yes I know it'll take a little while for Buick to be really considered in that league. All the more reason to get cracking.

I agree about there being no reason Buick can't strive for building cars on the level of Cadillac. However, and RedVee since I assume you are in Australia you may not realize this... but the caliber of dealerships that most Buicks are found in have, at least in my experience, not been that great. Here in town, our BPG dealership is old, and is FAR outclassed by the look and feel of the Honda and Nissan dealers that surround it. Heck, the Chevy dealer (which coincidentally also sells Cadillac

) is nicer than it. When you have buyers that are used to the "Lexus" experience or the "Mercedes" experience of buying from their dealerships, how are you going to convince a lot of them to come onto a low-rent lot that is also selling Pontiac G5s? There is certainly no feel of "luxury" when you go there.
I don't mean to sound too critical, because I know it's an enormously expensive problem to fix. However, I do believe that the poor quality of some of these BPG stores may be a negative in a lot of consumers' eyes that keep them from buying a car there. GM has to face this reality and try to find a way to work around it.
Other than that, I love this car. I am 25 and would have absolutely no qualms about driving it. Good job, GM.
