Did GM renege on promises made during the national talks? If so, shame on GM; you get what you deserve. And it would make perfect sense to strike at Lansing. If the Union is not abiding by the agreement, if they're being needlessly difficult, then shame on the UAW.
GM plants have to abide by the National agreement and they also work out a local agreement that is more specific to the jobs in that plant. I believe that they have been unable to work out the local agreement yet. They are working without one and they finally decided to strike. I have no idea what the specific issues are in the local agreement are that they can't agree on.
