I know it sounds a little too simple, but as long as there aren't any actual changes to the vehicle, shouldn't you just be able to take it in to your dealer and have him update it? I'm probably crazy but...
Ford did that for owners of 2006 Focus's...they revised the software in the 2007 Focus to get more MPG out of it, so they updated 2006's if the owner wanted it done.

In other words, it's not crazy.
