Funny how a misquote becomes what people are constantly repeating. Edmunds cleared up that and Nissan states that the car that ran the 7:38 was running on production tires. As for the flying start...lets do this:
SportAuto has yet to do a super test for the GT-R. However they did do a first drive. They were able to get a 7:50 out of the GT-R. For comparison the 911 Turbo did a 7:54 and the Z06 did a 7:49. All laps are done the same way when SportAuto tests cars.
For right now thats the best comparison anyone is going to get.
