The Vette's got "Active Handling" and "Traction Control" as well. The point is that light, high-powered cars like these need to maintain some level of control through computer systems. Just because a car doesn't have a traditional transmission doesn't mean it's not a driver-oriented car. I'd prefer a clutch pedal as well, but F1-derived sequential gearboxes are pretty effective and hardly make the car drive itself.
